

2008 Field Staff
Nolan Neiman will be returning to New Market to lead the Rebels for this first season as Head Coach after serving as an Assistant Coach on the 2006 team that finished in first place with a team record of 32 victories. Neiman currently is in his second season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Bulldogs. At DeSales Neiman's primary duties include running the recruiting efforts, coordinating practices, coaching third base on game days, working with the Bulldogs infielders and hitters and monitoring the day to day operations of the team. He arrived at DeSales after serving as an assistant coach at The University of Pennsylvania for one season. While at Penn, he primarily worked with the catchers, outfielders and hitters while also assisting in the day-to-day recruiting. In addition to coaching at Penn, Neiman has had served as the head coach for the Limeport Milkmen American Legion team as well as assistant coaching stints with the New Market Rebels in 2006, with the Lehigh Valley Catz in the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League in 2005, and for the Lehigh Valley Keystone State Games in 2005. Neiman was a standout player for DeSales graduating with a bachelor's degree in sport management. A three-year starter at second base, he helped lead the Bulldogs to four consecutive Freedom Conference Championships, four NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournaments, helped capture the school's first-ever Regional Championship and was a member of the first and only team to ever advance to the NCAA Division III College World Series in 2003. Following graduation, Neiman signed a professional contract with the New Jersey Jackals of the Canadian-American League. He earned All-Freedom Conference honors three times, was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year in 2004 and earned ABCA All-Mid-Atlantic Regional honors three times. Neiman finished his career ranked second all-time in walks (87), eighth all-time in runs scored (131) and 10th all-time in hits (154). Neiman resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania
Casey Garms enters his first season as assistant coach with the New Market Rebels. Garms is in his first season at Graduate Assistant Coach with Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. Garms arrived at SIUE after being a four year starter for the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. Garms also spent last summer as an Assistant Coach with the Thunder Bay Border Cats in the Northwoods League. Garms resides in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Josh McDonald begins his first season as an assistant coach for the New Market Rebels. McDonald is in his second year as GCSU's Graduate Assistant Coach. He came to Milledgeville after graduating from Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus in 2006. He was a four year letterman for the Hurricanes, playing first base and was a three-time All-Academic selection. He graduated with a degree in Health and Physical Education with a 3.5 grade point average. He is currently pursuing his Master's degree. McDonald is a native of Fitzgerald, Ga., and a graduate of Fitzgerald High School.
Rick Smith returns for his third year as Pitching Coach for the Rebels. Smith is entering his first season as pitching coach at Worcester State College in Massachusetts. He has coached on all levels of baseball including the Nashua Pride of the Atlantic League, The Central Massachusetts Collegians of the NECBL, Fitchburg State College and Assumption College. He has served as director of the Smith-Weber Baseball Camp and has had an article on pitching published in the American Association of Collegiate Baseball Coaches Journal. Rick is a graduate of Winona State University, Winona, Minnesota. He received his graduate degree from Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA and did graduate work at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. Rick is a retired middle school principal. He also served as the Health Coordinator for the City of Leominster, MA, and was a Physical Education Instructor. He resides in Sterling, Massachusetts.
"Mo" has a Bachelors of Science Degree from Winona State University and a Masters of Science from William and Mary University. He has managed or coached at all levels of NCAA Collegiate baseball, including head coach on the Division I level. "Mo" has managed and coached in a number of Summer Collegiate Leagues in the United States. Mo resides in Luray, VA.
John Combs enters his first season as Strength and Conditioning coach for the New Market Rebels. Combs is in his second year as Strength and Conditioning Coach at Whiteoak High School, in Mowrystown, Ohio. Combs came back to his alma mater after playing 4 years of baseball and obtaining his Degree at the University of Rio Grande, in Rio Grande, Ohio. While playing the outfield for the Redmen, John received the NAIA Champions of Character Award. As a high school senior, John was a team captain and also was named Academic All-Ohio. Combs also serves as an assistant baseball coach and a substitute teacher at Whiteoak and resides in Hillsboro, Ohio.
This is Katie's second year with the Rebels.
Abbie returns for her fifth season as Head Athletic Trainer for the Rebels. Abbie is completing her first year as Head Athletic Trainer at Strasburg High School. Prior to working at SHS, she was employed as a clinical athletic trainer for Sentara Careplex Hospital’s Rehab Services. Abbie has also been the Director of First Aid for the Paul Webb All-Star Basketball Team Camp held every July in Richmond, VA. In 2006, she was a member of the Athletic Training Staff for the Cornerstone Bancard Hula Bowl held in Honolulu, HI. Abbie is a graduate of Bridgewater College and holds a Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training. She resides in Strasburg, VA.
